A place to grow, a course of study with a purpose, a university to help shape:
There are many good reasons to come to KSH. Here are five of them.
KSH is a nationally and internationally renowned university for social work, health, nursing and education. Our campuses in Munich and Benediktbeuern are architecturally exceptional: historic and modern, cosmopolitan and close to nature.
KSH combines contrasts with opportunities: despite the big city, wide range of courses and international partners, we retain our family atmosphere. Students and teaching staff are in close contact at KSH.
KSH offers a sound academic and practice-oriented course of study. We encourage and support students - with practical programs and internships with our partners in Germany and abroad.
Something with people? Something with a future? Every single area of education and research at KSH is highly relevant to society. We encourage young people to get involved at the university and in society - and to make a difference together with us.
Our Munich campus is located in the heart of Munich, nestled in the Haidhausen district. Around 1,900 students and 58 professors and lecturers study, teach and conduct research at two faculties - the Faculty of Social Work Munich and the Faculty of Health and Nursing.
When you get to know our Munich campus, you will quickly understand why we call it a “protected and green cosmos”: Surrounded by historic walls, the educational location of the Church Center of the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising opens up. In addition to the KSH with its modern Ellen-Ammann-Seminarhaus, the site also includes the Romano-Guardini-Fachoberschule, the Edith-Stein-Gymnasium, the Archbishop's Youth Welfare Office and the Catholic University Community. In the middle of the archdiocese's so-called education campus is the campus church, where professional and cultural events take place.
Here you can experience an oasis for education and knowledge - and a place where people from all generations come together. We also embody this spirit in the way we treat each other and in the courses we offer: For us, the focus is always on people.
“Anyone entering the KSH campus at Benediktbeuern Monastery for the first time wishes they were studying here or had studied here.” We hear this sentence or something similar very often. Our Benediktbeuern campus is part of a listed monastery that was built by the Benedictines over a thousand years ago and has also been home to the Faculty of Social Work Benediktbeuern at KSH Munich since 1971.
Every academic year, around 150 students begin their studies in Benediktbeuern in Social Work, Religious Education and Church Education Work or the double degree course of the two Bachelor's programs. The total of around 550 students are taught and supervised by 17 professors and lecturers.
In Benediktbeuern, you will experience a lively university family that learns and lives together and enjoys the benefits of the modern campus in the heart of the Alpine foothills. Our range of courses and our interaction on campus show that we always focus on people.
You've come to the right place if you want to go abroad - during your studies or directly afterwards. KSH supports anyone who would like to gain experience in other countries. As an internationally oriented university, we offer you many opportunities: from theory semesters to practical experience. We offer you the possibility of a semester abroad, an internship abroad, participation in the Erasmus+ program and over 60 international partner universities.
As a university of applied sciences, we play a pioneering role in research: our research projects are highly relevant to society - with a direct connection to people's lives.
KSH stands for practical research in the fields of social work, health, nursing and education. We attach great importance to our own research projects and research-based teaching. We promote both in all faculties: teaching staff at KSH have the opportunity to work on practical research projects. Students can participate, gain early experience in research and do their doctorate with us. We think beyond subject boundaries and support interdisciplinary projects with value and impact for society.
Our research activities have 3 dimensions:
Responsibility and openness, respect and humanity: values and appreciation are practiced at KSH - in education and research as well as in our university community.
